Are we there yet? Am I finished yet? That's what it feels like with the house project as of today. It was one thing to paint bathrooms in my townhome, but to paint walls in a living room, entry, and hallway are something else. Especially ceilings. Luckily my neck is surviving. Memories of pulling a muscle in my neck were haunting me as I kept looking up at that ceiling or climbing the latter a little too high, so my neck had to bend. I do have to say though, that the rooms look really nice. Painting the trim all day and night yesterday is what has done me in. And that was only the trim in the living room. I still have the entryway and hallway to look forward to today. I am not the kind of person who enjoys this type of detail.
My father has commented on all the wall colors. He really likes the hallway color because it is the lightest. He likes the lighter colors-just a hint off of white. Then last night as I start to paint the molding in the living room (I'm not going to say crown molding because that might of been easier to paint than what they have) my father informs me-as he also makes the attempt-that the reason why all the walls in the house are white is because then he didn't have to do this kind of work on the trim. So, does he really like lighter color walls because of the color or because of the less work involved when painting?
Well, High Ho, High Ho, It's off to work I go.......

4 Steps to Change
1. Denial
2. Anger
3. Resolve
4. Acceptance
These may not be the exact steps, but I know the first 2 are correct because I've been caught in them like the merry go round at the playground. Sometimes I move on to step 3, but then I jump right back into step 1. Is it the Pride Cycle? Could be...but I know in order for me to change I must come to the 4th step. I believe I have.
To continue the DRAMA.....the renter wanted another place, so oh well. I went to Houston last week to catch up on the Pampered Chef news, doctor visit haircut, and oh yes, I did go by our place. Our realtor suggested touching up some places on the wall if we had paint and since there is no furniture I had to do some curb appeal with our little patch of dirt on the patio with the ferns growing out of it. So, once all that was done-luckily I had no rush to return to Ft.Worth so I stayed an extra day to get it all done. Once you start to paint it seams like you have to paint the whole place. It didn't help that I had 3 shades of paint to choose from and didn't know which one went to which room until it was on the wall and dried. Taupe, grey and a little darker grey. Yeah for the Dollar Stores to help me get my project done. So, now we've had some people wanting to rent look at it-oh, and even an offer to buy came in today-but we turned it down. I am not interested in paying someone to buy my house. Clint and I have agreed that if by June 30th, our home in not rented or purchased we will be moving back to Houston.
Meanwhile, I have accepted that we will be living with my parents until the end of June and I am grateful for their willingness to house us. After telling more people verbally about our life (ex-coworkers in Houston) I've decided that I am finished with the perspective I have had on my current events and am moving out of the 'poor pity me' stage into the 'I am so very grateful' stage. LIFE IS GOOD Darnit! It may not be what I thought it would be, but I guess after making many many mistakes in life and saying-Okay I want to do Thy will-I have to accept what comes. Still praying about what is happening, but being flexible.
So, what have I been doing with myself since my new resolve? My mother has decided that she would like to redecorate the office. Well, that has ballooned into the entryway, the livingroom, the familyroom, and well, painting the hallway. The entryway was painted last weekend before I left for Houston, I have painted one wall in the livingroom with a FAUX look-don't ever let someone talk you out of which technique to use if you have already decided on one-I won't elaborate except to say it looks good, just took longer to accomplish. New furniture has been purchased and my mother is enjoying the improvements we've made and is very happy. I'll post pictures soon.

False Alarm
I thought today would be a quiet day. Checking emails, cleaning up and visiting my grandmother. All started out well, then my mother came home from work (she works 1/2 days) as I was setting out to visit my grandmother. She's wanting me to help her redecorate the living room, family room, and office. So 1 1/2 hrs later, off to grandmother's house I go. I'm almost there when Clint calls to say our agent in Houston has a woman who wants to rent our townhome for 12 months, 6 months up front rent and to move in quickly-like tomorrow! Our agent needs all the papers he mailed for us to resign a sale agreement (ours expired in Dec), and a lease agreement and management agreement as our agent has a management company (I like the idea of renting, but not the headache of it).
Oh, the phone calls to make-first to the Forney home agent, then to the loan officer. Yeah! What a miracle. Our loan officer says that they are still having trouble with Clint's commision from his last job, but she'll try to keep pushing it through.
So, a little time with grandma, eating lunch really late, and then home again to send off the agreements to our agent in Houston.
By the time I get home I have a migraine and am tired. I look over the agreements and have questions so I call our agent. WELL, the woman hasn't actually signed a lease agreement, she wants to think about it...he's hopeful, but no signatures yet. Maybe tomorrow..........always tomorrow...'After all tomorrow is another day'....oh please, can I just finish today first?
Did I already mention that I think we all have a trial like Abraham to go through? But I think his was over in a day and mine is dragging on and on and on!
Oh, the rollercoaster of emotions from elation and hope to..well, I don't know anymore, really. This is what I was talking about by the DRAMA day after day after day.
One great piece of news is that our previous buyers have released the title $$, well, one of them has and the other one will sign when he comes back into town -he's a traveling muscian. So, that will help with some of our costs we've incurred.
I feel so good about our decision from two days ago to let the house go and then something like this pops up for what? to keep the hope alive? I DON'T KNOW is a phrase I always avoided and it has become the most popular thing for me to say.

Did the Fat Lady Sing?
It ain't over 'til the fat lady sings is they saying I've heard. I don't know if you really have to hear her sing or just get the feeling that comes from a wonderful voice singing opera, like what's his face-Paul Pott's on the British Idol -if you havn't seen it check it out, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NLF9iEXnBRo .
Well, all yesterday and this morning I've been considering when to return to Houston, one to clean up the home a bit before we start showing it again, two pick up the washer and dryer, three visit the doctor, and four get a haircut. I know, it can't be just one thing at a time with me. Oh, and I have a Pampered Chef meeting on Monday night where I'll get to preview the new spring products. So, why not try to accomplish everything at one time -well, I'd do it in a few days at least-not just one. Okay, so as I'm sorting through genealogy stuff trying to condence and I'm scrapbooking pictures to condence, why is it I can't decided when to go and to call people and all that? Nothing's coming to me. So this morning I thought, okay pray about it.
So I did pray about it and there's an unsettled feeling that I get, so I decided, okay, maybe I shouldn't go down and put anymore work into the place, and okay maybe I shouldn't take the washer/dryer just yet, leave it there and if the new buyers want it okay, but it won't be included in the price of the home like last time, oh, and don't look in the freezer I think mold started to grow last time I was there as we'd turned it off to conserve energy. Well, I feel better at the idea of not going down to Houston to work on my place (with all the obvious problems-oh and the I don't know what chemical cleaner spilled in the garage). I feel okay to go down and accomplish the other items on the list.
I don't know why it's a no on the home thing. So I think.....children ask why all the time. Not, why me, but why, so is it okay then to ask why as long as it's not why me? I think some more and I don't come to a real answer, just that it might be okay to ask why sometimes. Sometimes I might get an answer and then sometimes like in Jacob with the allegory of the olive vineyard. The Lord says "counsel me not" when the servant asks why. All the rest of the time when the servant is with the Lord He explains why He does what He does. BUT.........
As the DRAMA continues.....Clint yesterday called everyone to call off the home. I just couldn't do it. Now we just need to have the buyers to sign off on the title $ they put down and we can relist the property and move forward. The buyers agent can't get ahold of the buyers-for how many days now I don't know. We were going to offer a lease agreement with them, but haven't heard so, never mind right? WELL, our agent up here on the Forney home calls this morning to say she's spoken with the area manager and they don't want to let us go. Now, our agent is calling the buyers agent to recommend another mtg option to the buyers. Our agent knows a guy who works with private investors and got a loan for someone, with not the greatest credit score, but a decent interest rate, a 30yr fixed mortgage.
So, once again, did the fat lady sing or not? We are to wait while phone calls are made to see if this deal can still go through. The house is ours if we can just get the Houston home off our backs. Now why am I not to pick up the washer/dryer just yet???????

DRAMA
This has been my life for the last 6 months.
DRAMA....DRAMA...DRAMA....Just post me on daytime television and I know people would tune in.
Well, the DRAMA continues, too bad I didn't post all the details earlier. I know you're dying to know details. Sorry, too tired and too many to remember, but here's the RD version.
House in Houston fixed up, on market, contract, contract falls through, leave Houston, look for an apartment, no can't decide, so, let's look for a home, no can do until home in Houston sells or I get a job, okay...no, Clint's looking for another job, stay at brothers 3 months, watch nephew, Clint's not looking for another job, new house contract, yes, it looks good, move out of brothers, move in with parents, stop watching nephew, find beautiful new home in Forney at great price, daily updates with buyers in Houston, daily update on our loan in Dallas, extend contract, Christmas, New Year's, daily update-always something different, documentation..documentation..oh, not good enough, more documentation, house deal in Houston not happening............................................ Now What?????????
Late night walk on the local trail talking, talking, what do we do?? Well, exactly what I didn't want to do, why is it that that always happens to me? I don't want to do that, so well, that's what I need to do.
TODAY'S DECISION IS.....No purchase of a home, no moving forward with adoption, stay with parents, try again to sell home in Houston, (I do get my washer and dryer again-YEAH-it was included in the last contract), oh, and did I mention living with my parents??? What am I to learn from all this? I think the list is too long to mention. It must be.
Well, at least we've made a decision that I believe is the right one. All the other one's never felt right or at least not a confirmation of it being right. Amazing how impressions on the mind are given before the reality is seen. Denial doesn't help, move forward, ever forward, don't procrastinate.
